I’ve never done anything like this

It's one of the most common things people say to me. Usually quietly and sometimes with a nervous laugh. Occasionally as a confession delivered after several minutes of conversation.

"I've never done anything like this before."

If that's you, I'd like to start by reassuring you that you're in very good company. Many people assume that everyone who books an intimate experience is confident, experienced, and completely certain about what they're looking for. The reality is often quite different. Many of the people I meet are thoughtful professionals, business owners, travellers, parents, carers, recently divorced people, or individuals who have spent years prioritising everyone except themselves.

Some are curious. Some are nervous. Many are both. And almost all discover that there was far less to worry about than they imagined.

Curiosity is a perfectly good reason

You don't need a dramatic backstory. You don't need to justify or explain your interest. You don't need a long list of reasons. You don’t need an end game. Perhaps you've been reading articles online, or you’ve found yourself wondering what it would be like to spend time with someone whose sole focus is creating a warm, welcoming and enjoyable experience. Perhaps you've been considering it for months, or perhaps the idea only appeared recently. Wherever you are in the process, curiosity is often the beginning of something worthwhile.

More people feel lonely than we realise

One of the things I've learned over the years is that loneliness doesn't always look the way people imagine. It isn't always isolation or a lack of family and friends. Sometimes loneliness exists alongside a successful career, a busy social calendar, and a full life. It can simply be the absence of meaningful connection or touch. The absence of feeling truly seen and being with someone who has the patience and skill to be present with you. Many people are carrying far more responsibility, and many stories about themselves, than those around them realise. And very few have opportunities to simply relax and receive.

What surprises people most

Many first-time clients arrive expecting the experience to revolve entirely around physical intimacy. What often surprises them is how important everything else becomes - the beautiful atmosphere and surroundings, the conversation, laughter, feeling welcomed, the sense that there is nowhere else you need to be and nothing you need to achieve. The opportunity to stop performing for a little while. To stop managing, carrying the weight of the world. Funhouse is the kind of space that feels nourishing.

Letting go of judgement

Perhaps the greatest fear people carry is being judged. Am I too old? Too inexperienced? Too shy? Too awkward? Too nervous? Too tired? Too responsible? The answer, of course, is no. Life leaves its fingerprints on all of us. Every person arrives with their own story, experiences, hopes and insecurities. There is no perfect client and no perfect Sabine. We arrive exactly as we are.

Giving yourself permission

One of the things I value most about this work is the opportunity it gives people to prioritise themselves. Not because they're selfish. Quite the opposite. Many of the people I meet have spent years putting others first or ignoring their true desires and true selves. In the long run, this can leads to a lack of fulfillment, resentment, exhaustion, and wondering what this life is all about.

Final Thoughts

Every meaningful experience begins somewhere. Usually with a question or two and a sprinkle of curiosity. If you've found yourself wondering whether this might be for you, perhaps you're already closer to your answer than you think.

Warmly,
Sabine x
